This series of essays contains elaborate, easy to follow protocols for conducting research in cyanobacteria available to date. Cyanobacteria secrete extracellular substances that hugely interfere with the isolation of biomolecules. The published protocols are often not detailed and are not repeatable. There is a huge unmet need for detailing the reliable protocols starting from isolation, culture, extraction of nucleic acids, proteins, and lipids from cyanobacteria. These topics have been analysed in great detail, together with others, including the transformation in cyanobacteria and the underlying principles.
